Most children love to get messy! My friend Ellen has this great
expression: "The
messier we get, the more fun we have!"
As parents or educators, it is important for us to cultivate
the children's
creativity. Too often we watch over our children's work and try to 'manage'. Do not be
a rover monitoring their every brush stroke. If a child says that their
work is complete and they are satisfied with the outcome, do
not push them to continue. Let them be their own critique and the
owners of their work. A frequent scenario in my class is
when children begin painting the
most beautiful colorful picture and just when I think they are done
they continue painting until the page is covered with this not so
gorgeous brown color. Remember:
