Best Teacher Gifts You Can Buy or Make

Over the years I have been fortunate enough to be the recipient of many teacher gifts, thank you notes and kids' art works.

As a teacher, I do not expect presents at the end of the year. However, as a parent it is important for me to show my appreciation to my kids educators.

I am occupied with questions such as: "What should we buy?" "How much should we spend?" and "How can we get our children involved and teach them the value of saying thank-you?"

The process below helped me with my gift decisions. First, I made a list of all the teachers (nothing worse than forgetting someone) and asked the following questions about each one:

* Is this teacher teaching a specialty subject? (music, science, math)

* Does this teacher have a hobby? (reading, cooking, biking)

* Does this teacher have any special events coming up in their lives? (moving, marriage, new child)
